For yet more safety, AMAZONAS has installed its own in-house test facility on the Munich-Allach premises.
This testing system, which has been specially developed for endurance tests of hammocks, hanging chairs, and stands, ensures maximum loads of up to 600 kg (tested by means of sand-filled sacks).

We also have some happy news regarding baby products: AMAZONAS baby carrying slings have once again passed the annual test for harmful substances. The test was carried out by the independent institute Porst & Partner in Nuremberg, which performs its tests in strict compliance with the Eco Tex Standard 100 test criteria.
Worried parents can thus be relaxed when carrying their little darlings without using their hands.

Shortly after the release of a separate catalogue for the AMAZONAS baby and toddler range, a product manager has been employed exclusively for this area.

Amazonas is bursting at the seams! On November 1st, the time has come at last: We are moving to our new head office in München-Allach. Its convenient and pleasant room layout holds valuable advantages not only for all our employees, but also for our customers thanks to a quieter work atmosphere and standardised workflows. Our warehouse is moving right along with us—to spacious and ideally organisable premises located nearby.

In the first half of 2004, an increasing demand for hammocks has again enabled us to hire new employees: Since March of this year, Evelyn Losert has been responsible for the Accounting and Human Resources Management areas and Sonja Heilmann has lent a highly motivated helping hand in order processing. With Marcos Schänzle, we have expanded the Purchasing department, in particular for our major production country Brazil.

Finally, Dorothea von Creytz has joined us who is in charge of the reception and switchboard areas and helps out in order processing at busy times. The Storage department meanwhile has a staff of seven, at times even up to ten.

As a result of the merger with ElComal and the widespread customer satisfaction with our Amazonas quality hammocks, Amazonas can take on new employees in 2003: Besides Jasmin Metz, who is meanwhile increasingly in charge of logistics, we are also happy to welcome Isabel te Kloot who is taking charge of order processing with great commitment.

The Sales department has been extended by Jörg Koch and Katharina Heidebrecht who assist our German and international customers and are responsible for identifying and exploiting regional as well as specialised market gaps for the further expansion of our company. Welcome aboard!

September 2003 will mark the first inner-German merger of two hammock brands: Well established for over one decade, the El Comal brand name by the company El Comal Import and Marketing, located in Hofheim i. T., is now being taken over by Amazonas GmbH.

Amazonas will continue to remain reserved to the specialist trade with above-average quality, while we are penetrating a completely different market segment with the El Comal brand, offering hammocks at lower price points and predominantly with spreader bars!

The relaunch of the Internet presence of Amazonas GmbH presents itself with a new design and technology. The new presence is equipped with a CMS (Content Management System) that enables us to publish the latest information via the Internet almost in realtime.

Of course, our retailers and distributors also profit from this change and are now able to access the latest information of Amazonas GmbH and the hammock respectively hanging chair market even faster.
